Several reasons to be petrified by the student loan debt time bomb America has ticking:

-  More than half of student borrowers owe over $10,000.

-  Student loan debt has mushroomed 511% since 1999.

-  $85 billion in student debt is past due.

-  With 17% annual growth, student debt would hit $16 trillion by 2030. Yes, that's trillion with a T.
