You Don’t Use The ‘N’ Word. Why Do You Use The ‘R’ Word?

I have a stepson who was diagnosed as profoundly mentally retarded at age 1. Up until this year, that continued to be a genuine medical diagnosis.* Calling someone that word, or a shortened version of it, is not acceptable. Period.
