Since when is a woman on food stamps actually excited about being on them? Maybe when she gets to the checkout stand and everyone eyes her with disgust as she tries to control her drooling kids while simultaneously whipping out her EBT card? Yay, low income! Yay, government dependence! Yay, life! (I promise you that’s not how the internal monologue goes).
When given the opportunity to provide for her family, she jumps at the chance. And when that opportunity happens to be in a field that’s dominated by men, it’s even better.
