There are times in life when it's inappropriate to bust out your sense of humor.
Doing your taxes? Definitely not smart to list your income as "eleventy gazillion smackers." Directing traffic? Probably not the best time to bust out your Marcel Marceau impression. Operating on the president? Might want to shelve that bit about your 60% survival rate.
But when you're raising kids? It's kind of impossible to take yourself too seriously.
Especially when the tiny humans around you — despite depending on you for food, shelter, and the occasional stuffed amphibian — definitely do not take you seriously.
Even a conscientious parent knows that things are bound to — occasionally — go haywire. Favorite toys break. Knees get scraped. Lifelong phobias get discovered through accidental trial and error.
Laughing off the little mistakes and disappointments can make all the difference. The best part? Your kids may just laugh with you. Or at you. Or both at the same time.
