You might recall the old song 'This Land Is Your Land.' But do you know why it's kinda subversive?
The last part of the old Woody Guthrie favorite "This Land Is Your Land" is usually left off printed versions of the song because some deemed it a bit too ... edgy for schoolkids. To me, the lyrics are quite wonderful, and spot-on for our hard times: In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people, By the relief office I seen my people; As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking Is this land made for you and me?
