Banned 'Star Trek' Clip Promotes Terrorism?

Rebecca Eisenberg

In this clip from a 1990 episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," android Data engages Capt. Picard in a philosophical debate about the effectiveness of terrorism. But, that's not why the clip was banned in the UK and shown with a warning for "fictional and aspirational" content in Ireland. It was banned for the glimpse into "Star Trek's" fictionalized future, which features an Ireland that united in 2024 as the result of a successful terrorist campaign.

If you don't know why that was a sensitive subject in the 1990s, Google it, or click the links below the video.
