As someone who dates outside of his race quite often (I look forward to your candygram, Zachary Quinto), I know the harm in microaggressions, or interactions that can be interpreted as small acts of non-violent aggression. I have heard on multiple occasions that a partner "loves the contrast of our skin." And while the sentiment is nice (I mean, it is nice), it only serves as a reminder that I'm not quite the same as them — and never will be.
