Every parent has dealt with a tantrum. Watch how one empathetic dad handles it.
Empathy. It's kind of important.
Raise your hand if you've ever seen a toddler freaking out in public for no reason.
OK, everyone on the internet, you can put your hand down.
For parents of toddlers, this is something that happens on every day that ends in Y.
For first time parents especially, there is often a thought that is basically: "Oh God, is my child going to be an awful person when they grow up? Did I break them? Will they ever grow out of this?"
Like all parents, Doyin Richards has had this thought. But he has a plan to make sure his daughters grow up into kind, compassionate adults.
He's making sure to impart on them one of the most important lessons parents can teach their kids: how to have empathy for others.
Empathy helps make us feel better, helps us get along with others, helps us solve problems, and keeps us emotionally in a good place overall.
So, that begs the question: How do you teach empathy to a toddler? And what do cheeseburgers have to do with it?
