Chevron’s using this law called the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act to try to stop people from speaking up about pollution in the Ecuadorian Amazon. But RICO was actually created to charge people engaging in racketeering — like, you know, mob bosses. If Chevron gets away with this, well, it could mean something we all should worry about.
