After this little girl called herself 'ugly' her mom saved the day with the best response

Viral video shared on Facebook via Cocoa Butter.

A sweet, beautiful little girl sees her reflection as she gets her hair done by her loving mom. And then she utters three little words that would break any mother’s heart:

“I’m so ugly!”

Her mom gasps, instincts kicking in. “Don’t say that!” But by then the daughter has already broken into tears. It’s hard to watch this innocent child’s self-esteem so devastated.

Luckily, mom knew exactly what to say to help her daughter remember her worth. It's easy to see why this touching video has now gone viral.

“You are so pretty,” mom repeats over and over again, trying to deprogram the negative self-talk.

“You have this beautiful chocolate skin…you got these dimples. How many people got two dimples? You got two dimples! Look at them pretty white teeth!”

Going into cheerleading mode, she says:

“No, you not gonna cry. You are a beautiful little girl. You are the prettiest girl in class. Boom! Tell 'em straight up. When you go to school tomorrow, you gonna be like ‘oh look at my hair, oh look at my shoes'…Baby girl you are beautiful. Black is beautiful, and if don’t nobody ever tell you. I will tell you, you are gorgeous. And you gonna grow up and you gonna be everything that you can be. The greatest…whatever you wanna be. What you wanna be?”

“The teacher,” she says quietly.

“Your teacher mean to you?”

The daughter nods.

“So guess what, when you become the teacher, you don’t be mean. You be the nice teacher.”

And this is not only how you lift a child’s spirit, it’s how you show them a better world is possible.

Though the daughter keeps trying to stare back at the mirror, mom guides her eyes back to her own. Her last words are “You hold your head up,” and they share a loving embrace.

There’s another snippet where the daughter says “Hi, I’m black, and beautiful” and blows us a kiss. It’s quickly followed by a hilarious “Girrrrrl, whatchyou doin’ with my phone?” Apparently her courage was restored enough to record a quick video in secret.

The final thing we see is both mother and daughter grinning ear to ear, and it truly is beautiful. Way to go, mom. This is a moment her daughter will be able to return to anytime her confidence is compromised.

The skies just got a little friendlier with these two history-making pilots.

This month, the friendly skies became even friendlier when Alaska Airlines made pretty awesome history.

After American Airlines Captain Tara Dillon-Wright joked with passengers about Mother's Day and other fun tidbits, she introduced her teammate, 1st Officer Mallory Cave, along with the amazing news.

For the first time in the airline's history, the plane would be piloted by two black female pilots.

"Finally, you're sharing a pretty interesting piece of Alaska Airlines history this morning," she told passengers in the video. "You'll be piloted by two female African-American pilots for the first time in the airline's history."

The passengers of the Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Flight #361, flying from San Francisco to Portland, burst into applause. Because really, who doesn't want to enjoy beautiful skies while being flown by awesome, history-making women?

The flight marks a much-needed change in the airline industry.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 72% of air transportation employees are white and 60% are male.

Overall, a whopping 97%% of aircraft pilots are white, with female pilots making up a mere 5%. One study found that found that desegregation in airline flight decks hasn't progressed since 1980. Black pilots at a number of airlines have talked about the discrimination they've experienced, and women have also faced discrimination and harassment in the industry.

The disparity is frustrating, but Dillion-Wright and Cave's accomplishment shows that change is coming.

In spite of what the numbers say, women continue to make it clear that male-dominated industries are no longer "boys clubs."

In the 1920s, Bessie Coleman became the first African-American woman to hold a pilot's license. Her progress was inspiration for women around the world who wanted to work in male-dominated industries. Take, for instance, former Navy fighter pilot Tammie Jo Shults, who made an incredible life-saving emergency landing after debris from an engine failure broke open a plane window. Or Clara Lyde, Lauren Plagainos, and Wendy Tapia, all three of whom joined the Fire Department of New York, one of the most notoriously competitive fire departments in the country.

These women and countless others are showing us that they are not only good enough to be in these industries, they belong there.

Though we're far from equal racial and gender breakdowns in numerous career fields, many women are doing the work to get us there.

With leaders like Dillon-Wright and Cave, it's clear that we're getting even closer.

In 2006, activist Tarana Burke founded the Me Too movement as a way to help survivors of sexual assault and violence. More than a decade later, Burke's work became part of a pivotal national conversation about survivors and sexual predators, particularly in the workplace. For her work, Burke was recognized as part of Time magazine's collective person of the year, along with other "Silence Breakers" of the #MeToo movement.

But, to the consternation of many of her devoted fans, she was left off the widely celebrated cover. So we're here to shout you out and praise your excellent work, Ms. Burke.

"This is just the start. I’ve been saying from the beginning it’s not just a moment, it’s a movement," Burke said in an interview with Time. "Now the work really begins."

"Taking care of business": Keisha Lance Bottoms

In a narrow victory, Keisha Lance Bottoms was elected the mayor of Atlanta. There is something so encouraging and affirming about a black woman named Keisha running one of the largest cities in the country. It's a beautiful name, steeped in black girl magic, which in many circles may have drawn ire or limited her opportunities. But instead, Keisha Lance Bottoms was elected by the people to lead her city. What a time to be alive.

"Go off, sis": Amber Ruffin

Ruffin is a writer and performer for "Late Night With Seth Meyers" and uses her improv chops to help create some of the show's best moments. This week, Ruffin announced she will be hosting the 70th Writers Guild of Awards ceremony next February.

Ruffin said in her statement, "If you’re looking for hard-hitting satire on sexual assault allegations, Russia and the Republican tax plan — too bad! This is gonna be all hugs and rainbows! (The hugs will be consensual.)"
