FACT CHECK TIME! This 48-second video makes three specific claims …
- “In North Carolina, they’re having to raise U.S. Route 64 by 4 feet, in part so it won’t get swallowed up by the rising ocean.”
- “In Alaska, it’s worse. They’re moving an entire village, called Newtok, away form the eroding shoreline.”
- “If we wait until the end of the century, Miami, Tampa, Charleston, and New Orleans will all be flooded. So I guess we’re gonna have to move them too.”
… all which were verified by our team of fact checkers. Check for yourself right here at the National Climate Assessment.
Also, remember that Alaskan town they need to move? Well, they actually haven’t yet because of governmental funding and tribal disputes (?!) even though they’ve been trying to for a long time it seems. Sorry, your dogs will drown because of … bureaucracy.
