The original version of this started out like this: “Inside every adult lurks a graduation speaker dying to get out, some world-weary pundit eager to pontificate on life to young people who’d rather be Rollerblading.” What would you say in a commencement address?

I heard this song for the first time this decade when my friend Bethanie played it for me. She’s an amazing person and a brave Marine who just spent almost a year in Afghanistan; if you want to thank her for her service, you can do something for a vet today.

Also, a big shout out to my brother Sam, who is graduating college this year and gives fabulous advice! As evidenced below, I have been a big time fan of my baby brother for a very long time, and I am so very proud of him!
