On May 14, 2013, actress and director Angelina Jolie wrote a piece describing her decision to undergo a preventive double mastectomy because of a genetic mutation that makes Jolie more at risk for breast and ovarian cancer.
While most people applauded Jolie, others called her decision a tragedy because Jolie allegedly “ruined” her looks.
