What Is Depression? Let This Animation With A Dog Shed Light On It.

When others seem to be enjoying life, the black dog stands in the way for a lot of people. If you’re wondering WTF I’m talking about, watch the video. And if you recognize any of this, maybe it’s time to think about taking some steps to look after yourself.

Update: I love black dogs. Black dogs are the best. I had a black dog growing up called Penny and she was the best dog ever. In fact, I am totally obsessed with dogs — so much so that I have to stop and pet them every time I see one regardless of whether the owner wants me to or not. So to those who are troubled by the use of a black dog as a metaphor for depression, please know it is not an attack on black dogs in real life. I encourage you to go and support ASPCA and maybe go and adopt a pet dog at Pet Finder and please know that we love black dogs at Upworthy.
