NOTES from the ORG about the event:
The event was at the Texas Capitol on March 7, the day a state Senate committee heard testimony on SB6, a bill barring transgender people from using public restrooms in schools and government buildings that are not consistent with the gender on their birth certificates. It also would have barred local ordinances protecting the right of transgender people to use public restrooms (in any building) consistent with their gender identity. As you can see, the speakers in this video opposed the bill. The Senate passed the bill, but the House refused to do so before the end of the regular legislative session on Memorial Day. The lieutenant governor, who leads the Senate, demanded that the governor call a special session to pass a bathroom bill. The governor has now done so, setting it to begin July 18, and he has said a bathroom bill will be among the items on the agenda.
