Blue whales are just one of lots of kinds of whales that like to hang out in the Gulf of California.
Blue whales live to be 80 years old, which means that older whales probably remember some pretty bad times. They were hunted heavily by whalers until it was outlawed in 1966.
But the latest news is that, because they’re protected, the numbers of California blue whales have rebounded to where they were before whaling.
Maybe they’re singing about that.
