For some reason, when we talk about eating disorders, we think it’s just someone trying to get attention, that the person needs to just eat, that it actually isn’t a mental illness but an issue with someone’s personality. That’s just not the case.


The way we talk about anorexia, bulimia, and other eating disorders has to change if we want to save lives.

Why are eating disorders are so dangerous? They live in secret. They have the highest death rate of any other mental illness. And yet, insurance companies don’t provide enough coverage for sufferers to get better.
