We, as LaPorte High School students, have come together to target a much too prevalent issue in our country: hate. In the midst of a year of rising crimes, hate, and overall despair, we have united to show all who will listen that we, as a nation, need to band together.
Our generation has the ability to embody the good in this world such as love, acceptance, and diversity. We do not wish to portray the anger that is overcoming our nation. The Human Family video is based off the poem “Human Family” by Maya Angelou. The piece discusses the “obvious differences” among people all across the world. Yet, Angelou states that despite what one sees on the outside, we are all more alike than different. We hope that after viewing the video created to bring this matter to attention, you will share this with as many people as possible. We challenge you to show us your human family. Despite the obstacles we face as a country, “We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike.”
