Sometimes letting go isn’t the answer.

One lucky man is alive to tell the tell after he experienced a near-death flight high above the ground after realizing he wasn’t properly clipped in to his hang glider.

In a video posted to YouTube, “Gursk3” writes in a video entitled “Swiss Mishap”:

“My first time Hang Gliding turned into a near death experience as my safety harness was never hooked to the Glider. For 2 Min. 14 seconds I had to hang on for my life! The landing was a rough one, but I lived to tell the story.”

But that description barely scratches the surface of the entire ordeal.

Honestly, the entire video is worth watching. If you’ve ever felt like you’re just hanging on for dear life, it can’t hurt to have a little perspective from someone who did just that.

“While the pilot made a critical error in our pre-flight setup by not attaching me to the glider, he did all he could to get me to the ground as quickly as possible, while grabbing onto my harness and flying with one hand.”

Near the end of the video, he writes that he suffered a “minor: fracture in his wrist that required surgery (titanium plate and seven screws) but otherwise escaped unscathed, noting dryly:

“It beats the alternative.”

In fact, he says he plans to head up into the skies once again, writing:

“This was the first day of our vacation in Switzerland. Base jumping tomorrow?

“I will go hang gliding again as I did not get to enjoy my first flight.”
