A black man and a white woman walk into a barbershop. Someone has something to say about that.

I’m not going to lie. Some of the comments made by the individuals in this video caused me to have real feelings. I hung on to the words of the woman who spoke up said, “Let’s try to rise together.” Wouldn’t that be ideal?

Prejudiced actions are not OK. It’s really great the people in this video spoke up. We should all do that when we can. However, it’s important to mention this wasn’t a case of “reverse racism” (because that’s not a thing). Racism is a system of oppression where the culture normalizes the mistreatment of an entire race of people. It can be kind of confusing to parse it all out, so if you’d like to understand better, I recommend this article from Daily Kos. It helped me.
