Now, for those of you who may be *over* the debate for marriage discrimination, I get it: A lot of the rest of the U.S. is pretty over it, too.
“Let them get married!” you say.
Yes, marriage discrimination should be a thing of the past, but *so should these things*:
- Suicide rates among queer kids are just … no. According to a 1989 U.S. government study, LGBTQ youth were four times more likely to attempt suicide than other young people.
- LGBTQ homelessness is really really a thing. 19% of transgender youth experience homelessness at least once in their lives! *flips table*
- Nine out of 10 gay kids hear negative things about being gay every day.
- Gay kids are TWICE as likely to be attacked physically in school.
If you had your heart melted by that adorbzzzzzz couple up there, I hope your brain is now melted by those facts like microwave nacho cheese. I know mine was.
