Layli Miller-Muro is the co-author with Fauziya Kassindja of a book about Fauziya’s life and their fight together to obtain protection for all women fleeing to the U.S. from violence. It’s called “Do They Hear You When You Cry.” Layli used her proceeds from the book to start the Tahirih Justice Center, which provides legal advice and educational support for immigrant women and girls fleeing violence. The organization also works to allow these women’s voices to be heard to help shape policies that better protect women and girls from violence.
