I was planning to watch season two, but the casting announcement disappointed me something fierce. No female detective or a person of color in a leading role? I could overlook it for one season, but now it’s clear the honchos just want to cater to what they perceive is the main demographic instead of making a wider tent.

I think it’s an unfortunate move, but these two fantastic actresses seem to have heard my frustration and made a parody to cheer me up. As silly as they’re being in this Funny or Die video, it does actually help me visualize how great the show would be with one or more female leads.

Take note, Nic Pizzolatto. Women make awesome detective characters, too.
