Dr. D is a gynecologist in Afghanistan. Her name has been changed to protect her identity. Her life-saving work — providing health care to women who’ve experienced sexual violence — puts her own family in grave danger. Dr. D’s story should be told, but because of ongoing threats, she couldn’t be filmed. Amnesty International asked Dr. Caroline Wright, a gynecologist based in England, to tell Dr. D’s story.
