Ryan Reynolds trolls Hugh Jackman on the opening night of his new Broadway show 'The Music Man'

We never want them to become friends.

Ah, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. No celebrity feud has been this entertaining since the days of Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. Unlike Davis and Crawford, however, the war between Jackman and Reynolds is nothing but friendly fire.

Who could forget their People’s Sexiest Man Alive shenanigans? Or their fake political ads against one another in 2018? I mean, these are some grade A, next-level types of pranks here.

So is it any surprise really, that on opening night of “The Music Man,” where Hugh Jackman would star as the titular character, that Ryan Reynolds wouldn’t behave himself? I think not. And we’d all be disappointed if he did, anyway.

The Broadway revival had already been delayed after both Jackman and his co-star, fellow showtune icon Sutton Foster, tested positive for COVID-19 on Dec 28. Just days into the show’s run, "The Music Man" had been forced into a fermata, for you music geeks out there.

Cut to Feb 10, as Jackman prepares to take the stage as con man Harold Hill. Jackman reveals in a hilarious tongue-in-cheek Instagram post that among the blessings of “gorgeous flowers, champagne and heartfelt wishes,” he also received Ryan’s gift … if you can call it that.

In Jackman's dressing room are two black-and-white portraits of Reynolds, one a sketch of him looking dapper while leering with arms crossed and the other a photo while he leaps in the air, sort of the same move Jackman does in the show. Perhaps one to intimidate, and the other mock? Who knows why mad men do what they do.

Attached is a note, with a passive aggressive pep talk from Reynolds.

“Hugh, good luck with your little show. I’ll be watching.”

Despite the jabs, however, Reynolds gave nothing but glowing reviews, calling the show “actually perfect.” But what he had to say about Jackman in particular was even more noteworthy.

“I don’t generally like to speak about @thehughjackman. Particularly in a positive light,” Reynolds wrote. “But his performance in @musicmanbway is one of the most electric things I’ve ever seen him do. The chemistry between [him] and @suttonlenore is off the charts.”

I mean, if even Jackman’s infamous nemesis enjoyed it, this show has to be really something, right?

During an interview in 2020, Jackman told The Daily Beast, "It's gone back so long now … God, this is a classic sign where your feud has gone too long, where you don't even know why or how it started," regarding the playfully tumultuous relationship he shared with Reynolds.

But ask anyone, and I think they’ll tell you that we never want this delightful trolling to end.

Few people can say they're lifesavers on and off the big screen, but Hugh Jackman is (of course) one of them.

The Australian actor known for his superhero characters became an actual lifesaver this weekend at Bondi Beach near Sydney, where he helped rescue beachgoers from a riptide.

Yes, Hugh Jackman has officially out-Hugh Jackman'd himself.

Jackman sprang into action when an intense current began putting swimmers — including his own son and daughter — at risk.

The actor linked hands with a lifeguard to help pull Jackman's 10-year-old daughter, Ava, to safety, 9 News in Australia reported.

Jackman also assisted in bringing his 15-year-old son, Oscar, and a number of other swimmers to safety, which earned him a big thanks from the North Bondi Surf Lifesaving Club.

"He said, 'You guys did an amazing job,'" lifeguard Trent Falson explained of Jackman's praise. "I think [Jackman] thanked me about three times on the way up the sand."

"I think he was under a bit of pressure with [his] two kids at once but he was pretty cool, calm, and collected, as Hugh always is I suppose," swimmer Dan Conn, who also helped in bringing folks to safety, told 9 News. He noted Jackman's "definitely a bit of a superdad," a "superhero," and a "super bloke, too."

Couldn't agree more, Dan.

Riptides are serious business, which is why we should all know how to handle them if we find ourselves in one (without Jackman nearby).

Every year, more than 100 people die from riptides in the U.S. (That makes them 100 times more deadly than sharks!)

With beach season just around the corner, it's important to know how you can stay safe. So here are a few tips.

1. Swim with a buddy (especially if you're an inexperienced swimmer).

Swimming with a friend who can help in a moment of need makes any trip to the beach safer — riptide or not.

2. If you find yourself in a riptide, first and foremost, stay calm.

Riptides pull swimmers away from the beach. If you feel this happening to you, don't panic! Most riptide deaths occur because swimmers fearfully try to fight the current and exhaust themselves.

3. Now that you're nice and relaxed, see if you can touch the seafloor.

If you can regain your footing and the current becomes weaker, this will help you stay in control and move to safety. But if you can't touch, again, don't panic (are you sensing a theme?).

4. Swim parallel to shore.

Riptides are usually no wider than 100 feet. So if you're caught in one, swim parallel to the coastline (not against the current), and know that it's just temporary. Soon, you'll be out of the riptide and able to swim freely to shore.

3 easy ways to protect yourself from UV rays, as told by Hugh Jackman GIFs.

One might say he's a "jackman of all trades." OK, no one will say that, but they should.

But unfortunately, skin cancer doesn't care if you're awesome.

Jackman announced on his Facebook page this week that he had a basal cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer, removed from his nose.

This is Jackman's fifth run-in with skin cancer in less than three years.

In November, 2013, Jackman's wife, actress Deborra-Lee Furness, noticed a small mark on his nose and pushed him to go to the doctor. Her intuition was right, and Jackman had a small carcinoma removed.

Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! I had a basil cell carcinoma. Please don't be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!

Since then, Jackman has had four more basal cell carcinomas removed, including the latest this week. The 47-year-old actor has always been very public about his diagnoses and treatment, often encouraging fans to get checked and wear sunscreen.

While scary, Jackman's form of skin cancer is rarely fatal.

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common type of skin cancer, with more than 3.3 million people diagnosed in the U.S. each year.

Despite its frequency, this type of cancer isn't usually life-threatening, as basal cell carcinoma rarely spreads beyond the lesion site. However, it should be taken seriously as it can cause disfigurement.

But the good news for Jackman, and all of us, is that prevention is not only possible, it's easy.

1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. And while many skin cancers are treatable, it's still wise to prevent them in the first place.

Allow Mr. Jackman (in GIF form anyway) to walk you through three easy things you can do to protect yourself from ultraviolet (UV) rays, one of the primary causes of skin cancer.

1. You've heard it before, but it bears repeating: Wear sunscreen.

And do it year-round. While most sunscreens don't filter out 100% of harmful radiation, they still do a great job of protecting your body's largest organ — your skin. So slather it on and re-apply if you swim or get sweaty.

2. In addition to sunblock, wear some protective clothing.

Since sunscreen doesn't provide full protection from UV rays, it's important to supplement your skincare routine with clothes and garments that provide additional coverage. Cover up with dark, tightly-woven fabrics on your arms and legs. It may not be the cool, effortless beach look you were going for, but your skin will thank you.

And don't forget a hat and sunglasses. Your face needs love too.

3. Whatever you do, avoid tanning beds.

The UV light used in tanning beds is the same type of light you should be protecting yourself against when you're outdoors. If you're looking for a shot of color, head to your drug store's bronzer aisle.

And one more tip, just for good measure.

Don't be afraid to get up close and personal with your skin.

No one knows your skin like you, so give it a thorough once over on the regular. Use a mirror and really get in there. Be on the lookout for any changes to existing freckles, birthmarks, or moles. And, of course, if you develop any skin growths, let your doctor know.

With regular checks you'll be the first to notice any changes.
