Congressman ‘accidentally’ uses horrific racial slur and hasn’t resigned. Yet.

Meet Congressman Don Young (R-Alaska). Meet Congressman Don Young (R-Alaska). He has had a lot of problems in the past with illegal contributions, saying awful things, ethics investigations, etc. However, most recently, he went ahead and just got real racist. What he said was so awful, Majority Leader John Boehner made a public statement about it.

He has since published this apology:

“During a sit down interview with Ketchikan Public Radio this week, I used a term that was commonly used during my days growing up on a farm in Central California. I know that this term is not used in the same way nowadays and I meant no disrespect.

Migrant workers play an important role in America’s workforce, and earlier in the said interview, I discussed the compassion and understanding I have for these workers and the hurdles they face in obtaining citizenship. America must once and for all tackle the issue of immigration reform.”

So his horrific racism was due to hearing his dad say it when he was 12. That would sound genuine were it not for him being a 79-year-old congressman, and his glowing 100% rating from the anti-immigration group, Federation for American Immigration Reform, which is actually a hate group.

If you shared this, maybe we could help him apologize for not resigning yet? And maybe you could just go ahead and ask him to resign?
