BREAKING: North Carolina voted to amend their state constitution yesterday to ban same-sex marriage. SHOCKING: The last time North Carolina changed their constitution it was to ban interracial marriage in 1875. I love ya, N.C., but discrimination went out of style years ago. UPDATED: This nugget originally implied that this was the first time North Carolina had amended its Constitution since banning interracial marriage. In fact, it has been amended in the intervening years. Thanks to Julia Rosen for the correction.
