I know firsthand that getting your period is never a convenient event, especially when it's your very first one and you don't have tampons or pads (or diva cups ooh la la) handy.

Depending on what you're wearing, a leak can show up in ways that announce your cycle to the whole world — and when you're a teenager that can invariably lead to teasing from cruel peers.

Womanhood can truly feel like a curse when you first enter it.

Most of the time, when we hear embarrassing period anecdotes, the girl in question is riding solo with her shame-stained pants, or maybe there's a kind woman with tampons in the public restroom.

It's rare that a guy, let alone a teen boy, is the unlikely hero in a tale of periods. However, a recent Reddit post served as the delightful exception to the rule of terrifying teen boys.

When a boy noticed his female classmate's period stain on the bus, he took the high road rather than making her a punchline.

Here's what the post in full:

"My daughter started her period on the bus ride home today. A boy a year older than her...that she doesn't really know...pulled her aside and whispered in her ear that she had a stain on the back of her pants and gave her his sweater to tie around her waist so she could walk off the bus. She said she was kind of embarrassed and originally said it's okay, but the boy insisted and told her 'I have sisters, it's all good!' If you are this boy's mom, I want to say thank you and that you are raising him right!! We hear so many bad things about today's youth and I wanted to share something positive!"

People on Reddit were happy to hear about such a mature and positive exchange between the teens, particularly how the boy expressed empathy without even knowing her well.

The whole exchange is a testament to how important it is to educate kids about how bodies of all genders work, so it's normal and not shameful.

"What an awesome kid," Redditor Imrhien wrote. "This highlights the importance of teaching boys about girls bodies, and vice versa. Understanding engenders compassion."

It's also notable how awkward it may have been for him to approach her, one of the reasons teens often take the low road is because kindness is a form of vulnerability.

"I'm guessing neither your daughter nor the boy are very old, maybe around 15," cli7 wrote on Reddit. "It would be so tempting to make fun of her. And even if not that, very awkward to have this conversation with a stranger. He must have been awfully nice for your daughter to react how she did I have a feeling your daughter made a friend for life."

In short, this is the right way to raise and kind and respectful kid.

"This is how we should raise our sons and daughters," Redditor binarydaaku wrote.

There are few people more near and dear to a busy, famous mother than her prized nanny. Finding someone who truly loves your kids, and understands their needs and limits with equal parts tenderness and discipline is harder than it sounds.

So, once you've got a good one it makes sense to hold onto them tight.

That being said, it makes total sense for Jennifer Garner to feel protective of her good nanny relationship. Particularly, when the cuteness of Chrissy Teigen's kids functions as a potential threat.

To catch you up, in a recent comment on a picture of Miles, Garner joked about how her nanny has been "liking" all of Teigen's Instagram photos of her kids. And while Garner understands appreciating adorable Luna and Miles, she doesn't want Teigen getting any nanny swooping ideas.

"I see my kids’ nanny liking everything you put up with your gorgeous kids and I’m here to tell you, don’t get any ideas, either one of you," Garner wrote.

Well, now the playful saga has continued on a recent photo. In response to another precious photo of Miles, Garner joked that her "kids are now being threatened with his cuteness."

This time, her nanny jumped in to write "I mean..." as a cryptic agreement. Naturally, Garner immediately responded to her nanny with a strong no.

While Teigen has made no suggestions she is plotting to steal Garner's nanny, it doesn't mean she's not hatching a plan secretly, like all good schemers do.

At this point, it's commonly understood that mansplaining is a problem. For those still confused by the term, "mansplaining" is shorthand for men explaining things women already know, with the assumption they are ignorant. Not all men explaining things are mansplaining, but all mansplainers are men.

Now that we have definitions out of the way, I want to present to you one of the most extreme recent examples of mansplaining that exists on the internet: a man attempting to explain periods and tampon usage.

In a screengrab to rival all screengrabs, a man on the internet attempted to do some very confusing math about how much women bleed each month (for WHY), how many tampons they use per cycle, and why they should all stop complaining about feminine hygiene costs. BIG YIKES across the board.

First of all, it's the true pinnacle of male ego to explain periods to women on any level. But on top of that, he has a huge fundamental misunderstanding of how periods work in the first place.

For starters, he thinks there are only 9 periods a year?! The fact that periods are monthly is pretty common knowledge (or so I thought).

But on top of that, he only thinks women use 7-10 tampons per cycle. In reality, most women use 3-7 tampons a day, depending on their flow.

The thread full of women wasted no time in breaking down the various ways this man was patently wrong.

Several women said if they had to choose between coffee and tampons, they might as well embrace free bleeding.

While I hope this man learned his lesson, and will not construct elaborate arguments about menstruation in the future, I'm certainly not holding my breath.

Happy Friday! The 9-5 work week is coming to a halt and soon you will be able to relax and call the shots on your own terms. But first, you must know that Fox News is getting massively trolled, and the memes are top notch.

The most recent wave of backlash comes in response to a tweet and photo posted by Fox News contributor Lawrence Jones III, wherein it looks like he's preparing to enter a war zone. The picture was taken near the border, and was undoubtedly posted to create fear mongering around immigration.

It wasn't long before MSNBC correspondent Jacob Soboroff chimed in to point out the obvious: you don't need a bulletproof vest at the border.

While many asserted he's not wearing a real one, the appearance of the photo feels very intentionally staged as propaganda, and there will undoubtedly be people who believe it's real.

It didn't take long for the photo to get attacked by a fleet of unflattering comparisons, and the explosion is beautiful.

There's even photo documentation suggesting Jones didn't wear the tactical vest after the photo was taken, which just confirms it was all for appearance.

Other reporters also chimed in to share the times they covered the border without need of protective clothing.

But the best responses to the tweet absolutely came in the form of meme'd versions of the photo. This is a true thread full of art.

Whatever you do this weekend, it's safe to assume you'll be getting roasted less than Jones.
